The initial inspiration for this program can from my high school physics teacher, Mr. Lewis. Back in the day some friends and I made a domino portrait of him our senior year in high school after being shown one of Einstein. We did the entire thing by hand and didn't even try to use complete sets. We even used a black marker to turn some dominoes into others near the end.

That summer we tried to automate the process but never got the whole thing working. In college and then later at work the domino "problem" simmered. It wasn't until a few years ago that I saw Robert Bosch's work at Domino Artwork. I was inspired and with some techniques gleaned from his page started in on DoMosaic. Thanks Professor Bosch!

The seeds planted by Mr. Lewis had finally bloomed.

Who Else?

I'm not the only one interested in this. Some other interesting links about domino artwork
